Some leisure travel philosophy and a few tips

I'd like to talk a bit with you about leisure travel. You already know why you do it (that's if you do sometimes enjoy going to places away from home- more about that later)

But what do you do when you get to your destination? Some enjoy adventure vacations, others prefer all inclusive package deals at a resort or a city trip… or something else.

Whatever you like to do on your hard earned vacation.. it's fine as long as you enjoy it and I'm not writing this to try and get people to book something completely different for a change.

What I'd like to suggest is that next time you're going to wherever you're going is that you mix it up a bit. For example if you're flying abroad somewhere and you usually stay in a holiday resort, do exactly that again with a little difference.

If you don't usually leave the resort much, go into the local village, town or city or rent a car or take a bus somewhere and even if you get lost just soak in the local culture or nature.

During my travels I've noticed two wonderful things.

People are different but they're also the same and it's great.

They might be different in culture and cuisine but they are generally the same as other humans everywhere. They are just getting on with their lives and believe it or not, they are generally nice.

Many are very good at what they do, crafts, cooking, other stuff and are happy when foreigners appreciate their skills or just simply happy to meet someone from someplace else.

The important part about travel for me is it can bring people from totally different cultures together and we can learn that we are also very similar in many ways. That can lead to mutual understanding and respect which could ultimately lead to a more peaceful and caring world.

Of course, if you already do that on city trips you could consider getting out of the city if you can to see a bit of nature. Adventures could go somewhere quiet and calming.

Whatever you usually do… maybe you already do all of the stuff I've mentioned… why not try something different next time. If you don't enjoy it much then you don't have to do it again and you've probably only lost a few hours of your planned vacation time… and who knows? You might love it ❤️

I wish you all a wonderful day,

Your Peter.
